#BEDN – 5 – Fireworks Night

Tonight is Fireworks Night. Usually I would try and find a local display for us to go to, especially as the girls really loved the one at our local park recently but this year is a little different and we’ve actually just got back from a date night!

My MiL had bought us tickets for a comedy night at the theatre in town as our anniversary present. We try to make a date night at least once a month but it actually feels like a very long time since we actually did go out without the girls. We get every first weekend with just one daughter yet we still manage to never arrange anything for us so that we can be baby free.

It’s been a pretty rough few days over here, I witnessed a man collapse and need CPR whilst on a “coffee” evening (nobody drank any coffee, just fizzy drinks) and then there was a slight drama in our friendship group which I’m hoping has been smoothed out now. So tonight was a very welcome mood lifter.

We went last year, I think, Hubby and I loved it. Although I didn’t quite get some of the humour it was a really fantastic evening. Hubby and I can always find something to laugh at which is why I’m glad I married someone who makes me smile. Tonight’s show was really good. There was a point when a disabled man and his carer walked out because he wasn’t happy with the disabled based jokes which was such a shame but the three acts were so hilarious!

I’ve had a lovely evening.

Oh no I hope the man that collapsed is ok. I’m glad you managed to get some time out to yourselves. It’s incredible how difficult it is post-children isn’t it. And it’s so hard when you’re out to not talk about work or children haha. x

  9. How scary that you witnessed a collapse. Hope the comedy night lifted things for you.

  10. I think we’re still trying to get a date night to happen here, but it’s near impossible! There’s just no one to our our Son. I love comedy shows though, they’re always a bit hit or miss, but when you go to a good one you feel great when leaving. Everyone loves a good laugh!

  11. Oh dear poor man that collapsed and the guy in the wheelchair. Ouch. Glad you had a nice night though. It’s important to make time. For ourselves without children on ocassions. X
