When I think of turkey meat I always think of Christmas. Turkey is actually a really cheap and easy meat to use all year round and my MiL introduced it to me when making meatballs or spaghetti bolognaise. Bernard Matthews are the leading turkey producers in the UK, farming over 7 million turkeys each year!!
We are not strangers to processed, frozen food. Since the arrival of P3 we are certainly accustomed to quick and easy food for our dinner. We were given the task of spending £15 on their turkey range. So over the past week we have been using Bernard Matthews Turkey products to create #BootifulMeals that take just 20 minutes for the whole family. Hubby came back with so much food, it’s surprising how far £15 can get you when it’s 2 for £3 in Sainsburys on Bernard Matthews.
The first bit of turkey that we cooked was the Mini Kievs. I have never ever had a kiev in my life so trying the Mini Turkey Kievs was quite nerve racking. I am a very fussy eater. We cooked the kievs as a little lunch time snack and ate them with just some ketchup. They were completely filled with the cheesy garlic sauce which oozed out. I could barely taste the turkey in all honesty as there was so much sauce, but it was totally delicious.
Our next meal was eaten when my Grandad dropped P1 back to us. He wanted a quick sandwich so we introduced him to a Turkey Dinosaur and cheese sandwich. My Grandad is known for his beautiful home-cooked foods and it was very rare that he’d even contemplate giving me a fish finger after school. He loved it and I think it’s a great way to make sandwiches a bit more interesting and packed with goodness. P1 and P2 both separated the bread from the dinosaurs and only ate the dinosaurs which I think proves how yummy they are. Turkey Dinosaurs remind me of my childhood and we always get them on our food shop, for me not the kids. The turkey is always succulent even when I accidentally, often, burn it by being distracted by the three girls.
Our final meal was Bernard Matthews’ Golden Drummers. Hubby loves theses, he’s been known to eat a whole packet to himself in one go. We had them with beans and you can see our video below. Although the turkey tastes amazing, these are not my favourite of the range, they are far too moist for my liking. Saying that, they are a favourite with P1 & P2 and hubby so I’m obviously very outnumbered with my opinion. These have the most turkey inside which is wonderful.
