#BLOGMAS Day 6 – Bluewater Grotto & Ice Rink

I am loving the decorations everywhere. The way that the anticipation of Christmas spreads such an upbeat joy now that it is December. Recently we had been invited to experience Christmas at Bluewater. I was super excited as they have an ice rink.

We bundled the kiddies in the car after school and headed to the shopping mall. I love how Bluewater think outside the box and offer fun things throughout the year for all ages to do, other than just shop of course. As you drive through the car park you are already instantly greeted by sparkling Christmas lights. Walking through the shopping mall and it’s absolutely magical with the 12 days of Christmas theme.

The ice rink is tucked away right near the lakes in The Village area of Bluewater. There’s also a brilliant Father Christmas Grotto that you can book too. The ice rink is under a clear roof meaning the weather won’t damage the fun. The decorations are breathtakingly gorgeous with a huge Christmas tree in the centre of it. The girls were handed gingerbread men to kick start the evening.

As part of the press event there was a mini skating show. I experience real goosebumps as I watched the two girls skating round. They were the age I was when I was learning to skate professional. My girls were in awe of it. Santa even made a special appearance off ice and P2 had a quick cuddle with him which was a really lovely touch.

Soon we was allowed on the ice. They have skates for all sizes including brilliant Bob skates for the younger ones that can be worn over their shoes. There’s also a rather cute seal skating aid too, and plenty of them. Bluewater have organised different skate sessions too for school visits, birthday parties and baby and toddler mornings. It’s a really good price too at just £9 for children, £10 for juniors (13-16 years), £11 for adults and £34 for a family of 4 (maximum of 2 adults).

We had a lovely time. The girls especially P3 shockingly, loved skating with Mummy on the ice. Hubby stayed off rink sampling the really festive food on offer in the little cafe by the side of the ice rink. It was lovely. We then spent some time in the actual shopping centre wandering around to look at all the different decorations and huge statues you could take your photo with. I would highly recommend a visit to finish your shopping, have some fun with family or friends. It’s such a lovely time of the year and Bluewater have definitely done a good job this year!

Disclosure: We were lucky to be invited to the Press Opening of the Ice Rink however we was not asked to write this blog post. All opinions are of my own.
