There is exactly one week between my Grandad and my Mum’s birthdays. This was the same for my Nan and me. It’s always hard to plan birthday celebrations when you have kids to entertain at the same time. This year with the weather warm and bright, we decided to head to Godstone Farm.
We’ve not been to Godstone Farm before, despite it only being a twenty minute journey from our house. It was really easy to find, pretty much just off the M25 in Surrey. The girls had spent the night with their Nanny and so my Grandad picked me up on their way past and we met everyone else there.
It costs £8.90 for both adults and children during peak season, and £3.40 for 1 year olds. I think that’s really reasonable for a farm attraction and once you go inside and experience the day you can really appreciate the value for money.
We wandered around the main animal area first. This part has little pens with guinea pigs, rabbits and other small animals. The girls seemed really interested by the different chickens and birds. The weather was so hot and I just think the girls look super cute in their summer dresses and hats.
We then found a dinosaur trail. My younger (but not smaller) brother joked about finding dinosaurs on a farm. The girls however love dinosaurs and P3 especially enjoyed this section. It was a little overgrown in places and you couldn’t spot some of the dinosaurs. I loved all the different activities on the way round though.
We decided to take a small drink break to get out of the sun and headed into the playbarn that has soft play equipment and a cafe. I was really impressed by it. The entire barn is secure so you can just chill out and let the kids play, something that really makes a soft play area for me. This was the only soft play where I actually felt like a giant which meant smaller children were capable of getting round.
Godstone Farm is sort of based on a circular trail. We walked around looking at the chickens, ponies and pigs in the fields. P3 was super grumpy but refused to go to sleep. We then found the picnic area and the main outdoor play areas. I was amazed and the girls faces just lit up. There’s sandpits equipped with buckets and spades, there’s wooden play areas, mazes and zip wires. We had our delicious picnic supplied by my Mum and then got to the playing.
A little bit further along from the big wooden play area is a brilliant tabbogan ride. The girls spent ages on it and it wasn’t too fast for them either so even P3 enjoyed it. The weather was pretty hot at this point and everyone needed cooling down. I was about to complain as I love this summer weather, but P3 was super grumpy and tired. She had a big cry which wasn’t helped by her ice cream falling on top of her shoulder.
We are potty training P3 at the moment and we’d forgotten her potty so I was a bit nervous about locations of toilets. Godstone Farm has plenty of toilets, there are even some in the playbarn that are tiny toilets for children. Most of the toilets are actually unisex which I found quite odd hearing a man in the cube next door. But they are clean, everything is well maintained throughout the farm.
There’s plenty of activities going on throughout the day at Godstone Farm. You can have the opportunity to handle the animals but the girls were really excited to watch the pig racing. We gathered around and discussed which Pig we’d cheer on. I was actually really impressed by the obstacle course. It looked like great fun for the little pigs. It had started to get a little cloudy and so we decided to start making our way to the exit.
My girls are awful when they’re with their Grandparents and expect a visit to the gift shop. I hate that they expect it but it’s my Mum’s fault as she’s always done it for them. The gift shop is well stocked although I noticed there seemed to be different prices labelled on the same things so watch out for that.
We had a brilliant time at Godstone Farm and I’ll be heading back next weekend too because I loved it so much! I’m so glad I’ve found a nearby farm that has so many outdoor play areas too. The girls were entertained and occupied the entire day. I filmed our day out which is below. I’d really appreciate it if you subscribe, I am desperately trying to reach 1,000 subscribers and I am now so incredibly close it’s painful.
