A Family Stay At The Abbey Hotel

We recently headed up to Birmingham for a mini break so that we could go to Cadbury World. Whilst ther we got the chance to stay at two hotels. On the first night we stayed at The Abbey Hotel which is slightly South of Birmingham in Redditch.

Driving up to the hotel and our initial impressions were good. It’s in a country location surrounded by fields. The hotel building itself is relatively modern looking, brick, and had colour changing lights pointing towards the walls. The staff were efficient and explained where to go for our breakfast and how to get to the swimming pool.

It’s always really hard to find a hotel who fits a family of five in comfortably without needing an extra room. The Abbey Hotel gave us their Family Room that has one King size bed, a single bed and either a Z bed or a double sofa bed. We had the sofa bed option. Inside the family rooms there is also a TV, complimentary WiFi access, toiletries, hairdryer, ironing facilities and towels. The room was very clean and to high standards.

After we had got ourselves comfortable and had a few snacks that I’d packed with us, we headed for the swimming pool. We were actually on the ground floor of the hotel and the pool and spa facilities were right at the end of the corridor. We were greeted by friendly staff faces who offered us some towels, I loved that we didn’t have to worry about bringing our own towels or using the room ones. The changing room was very clean and the ladies in particular was huge! The girls really enjoyed the pool, it was warm enough however they couldn’t reach the bottom and silly mummy had forgotten their armbands. We spent a good hour or so there before heading back to the room.

I actually had a pretty rough night. Typically it took the girls ages to settle down and there was a few noisy guests surrounding our room, which was definitely not The Abbey Hotel’s fault. The bed was really comfy and I just wish my girls actually let me enjoy it. We headed to breakfast for about 8am. The restaurant was not busy at all but did get busier as time went on. Again all the staff were really friendly and attentive to our needs.

They offer toast and hot drinks that are brought to your table but everything else is buffet self service. There’s a generous selection of continental foods like croissants, cereal and fruit. The hot food was also well equipped with the usual breakfast items. I have honestly never seen P2 eat so much food in the mornings, she’s extremely difficult to get to eat usually. P1 also had many, many servings of breakfast and I was left wondering where she was putting it.

Before we checked out, we took a quick wander outside. It’s so peaceful and pretty at The Abbey Hotel. It’s set on a golf course but we have no interest in that part. I was really pleased at the way they welcomed my large family. They made us feel very at home and the facilities on offer make this hotel a great base for fun days out in Birmingham. Comfortable stay

The hotel definitely has a golf feel to it. Very clean, to high standards and the room was incredibly large to fit our large family inside comfortably.
