Hola España for Summer Holiday 2020!

With the impact of Coronavirus still being felt around the globe, it may be some time until worldwide travel resumes. Luckily, many destinations in Europe have now been declared as safe. One of the top destinations is of course Spain. With its long stretches of sandy beaches, dazzling culture and a fantastic choice of food, Spain tempts millions of holidaymakers every year. Although Spain was one of the hardest-hit countries by Coronavirus, Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has now ensured tourist safety thanks to his cautious lockdown lifting programs. As of the 21st June 2020, Spain is now ready to welcome back visitors.

When travelling to a country such as Spain, it can be a great idea to learn some of the lingo before you go. Language learning apps, like Babble for example, are great if you want to learn Spanish quickly and easily. It can also help you practice your pronunciation, so you can not only get to grips with the vocabulary but with sounding like a local too!

Here are some of the top spots to consider when going to Spain.

Costa Brava

With its clean beaches and crystal clear waters, the Costa Brava is the perfect choice for families, with plenty of opportunities to go snorkelling and discover the underwater world. The Jardí Botànic Marimurtra Botanical Gardens are also close by, along with lots of coastal trails to explore. If this seems a bit much, the Roses Express train is great for those travelling with little ones.

San Sebastian

Famous for its food, this is one of the top culinary destinations in the world for tourists. Here you can enjoy Basque tapas, unique to the region, and afterwards, take a stroll through the bars of the Old Town. Not just a destination for foodies, San Sebastian also has two beautiful beaches, Zurriola, or Concha Beach, shaped like the shell of its namesake.

Barcelona is an architectural masterpiece, from the twisting gothic spires of the Sagrada Familia, to Gaudí’s colourful mosaic wonderland of Park Güell. Known as Spain’s second city, there is plenty to see and do as you explore. The Tibidabo Amusement Park is great for thrill-seekers, or why not enjoy unparalleled views of the city from the top of Mount Tibidabo.

As the capital of Spain, Madrid is one of the must-visit city break destinations in Europe. Wander through the Royal Palace, one of the largest in Europe, or pop into one of the city’s many art galleries to see some of the most iconic works of art, such as Picasso’s Guernica. Madrid is also famous for its nightlife, with the La Latina neighbourhood overflowing with cool bars and tapas restaurants.

Historic Granada looks like a scene from a movie! The Alhambra is a magical Moorish palace that boasts some of the most amazing Islamic art in the world. Once a gypsy community, made famous by the poems of Lorca, Granada is still rich in flamenco spirit.

If you love paella, then Valencia is where it all started. This stunning city is the home of one of Spain’s most famous dishes. Here you can enjoy a range of fantastic restaurants, as well as explore their Old Town, museums, aquarium and even sample their celebrated cava cocktail, Agua de Valencia.

As the only desert region in Europe, Almeria’s rocky landscapes are simply out of this world. No surprise then that they were the location for many of cinema’s most famous Westerns. Visit their fishing villages to sample local cuisines, or relax on one of their immaculate beaches.

Spain is the ideal choice for your summer holiday 2020. From its delicious food, to its incredible array of art, culture and beautiful beaches, there is something for all the family to enjoy! Just remember to stay safe by following the rules in place for each region, and don’t forget to pack your mask.
