“I don’t think I’ve felt true boredom for a long time”

Since the new year I have felt quite refreshed. My emails have been quiet, I’ve been writing and scheduling posts for days in advance, the house is relatively tidy with clothes washing up to date and put away. But the evening telly has been pretty rubbish and limited which has left me feeling rather bored.

I don’t think I’ve felt true boredom for a long time. I’m forever rushing around tidying up after my three girls, cooking, cleaning, coming up with activities to keep them amused, frantically writing a blog post or three that needed to be done a week ago and generally feeling like there aren’t enough hours in the day.

With my new weight loss goal and calorie counting, being bored is lethal. Thankfully when I’ve been craving some food I actually have calories left to eat for that day so it’s been ok to have a little nibble but I have also started a new hobby this week in a bid to not hit the biscuit tin. Knitting. Oh gosh, I’ve said it and admitted to being old before my time!

P1 was given a knitting kit for Christmas and although she was desperate to be able to do it herself, with her hypermobility and coordination problems she really struggled and I was asked to complete it for her. I loved it. It brought back memories of my mum and nan teaching me as a child. I knitted the scarf for her and then somehow managed to persuade hubby to allow me to spend some money on new wool/yarn and a set of needles.

I’m attempting to make two cushion covers for the rather ugly sofa cushions that came with our second hand sofa. Hubby reckons it’ll be a 5 minute phase which has made me even more determined to finish this project. I’m really enjoying it so far and I still have a long way to go seeing as I want to make two, but hopefully by this time next year I’ll have two lovely knitted cushions.
