“It’s 28 days until Christmas”

20131126-103640 am.jpgIt’s 28 days until Christmas. It feels like it’s suddenly crept up on us. I cannot believe that it was nearly a year ago that we were taking our yearly “generations” photo with my Mum, P1, me and my Nan.

201220131126-100428 am.jpgWe didn’t get a chance to have a generations photo with P2. Nan didn’t get a chance to have a Christmas with her two Great-Granddaughters.

This year is going to be so different. It’s going to be the first Christmas in my whole life that I haven’t spent with my Mum. It’s still going to be an amazing day. We are spending the morning together as a family and then going to my MiLs for some yummy food.

In an ideal world I’d love to have all the family around one table. Literally everyone. Parents, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and the girls obviously. Most of all I wish my Nan was here to celebrate with us.

I’d have Roast Turkey, with broccoli, carrots, peas, stuffing, sausages, gravy and Yorkshire puddings. I’d have Christmas cake and mince pies with custard.

We’d wake up really early. All wearing Christmas pjs, open up all our presents. Have a full English breakfast. Watch Christmas movies and play games. The whole family. All together.

Even if I could make some of my wishes come true, it can never be a perfect Christmas. My Nan isn’t here.

Siblings 2021 – June

June has been quite the emotional rollercoaster. One moment I’m flying high above the clouds …

  1. This is a lovely post and has made me think about my own Grandma. Great generations pictures and I’m glad you have the ones you have even if you didn’t manage to take more. 🙂

  2. I’ve found that you have to remember those that can’t be there with love and joy in your heart at Christmas time. It’s the only way, sadness will make your heart heavy so keep your memories happy and your nan will be with you. Have a lovely Christmas x

My Nan is the first death of a family member that I’ve had to really deal with. My great-grandparents died when I was very young so it wasn’t as bad for me.
