A Letter To My Husband – Surviving 4 Years In A Relationship

To my Husband,

We have been together for four years today. We’d been talking online for a long time before the day we met and it felt like I’d known you my lifetime already.

Our very first proper date was a trip to a shopping centre. We were shopping for Mother’s Day for our mums. I bought a tiny snack box KFC and you copied me, leaving you starving for the rest of the day. It practically forced you to take us out for a proper meal at a Harvester.

Four years have now passed since that day. I just want to congratulate you on surviving 1,461 days of me officially being in your life. I know I’m not easy to live with and the majority of the time I’m a right grump. But I want to thank you.

Thank you for teaching me what true love is.

Thank you for always being my shoulder to cry on.

Thank you for always being honest with my fashion choices.

Thank you for being my birthing partner twice and acing it too.

Thank you for mopping up my sick when I was having a panic attack, or as you call it a fit in a carpark.

Thank you for always being able to send me to sleep with cuddles.

Thank you for buying me women’s things without batting an eyelid.

Thank you for teaching me how to manage my money spending.

Thank you for agreeing to make the big move of counties.

Thank you for supporting my weird new hobbies.

Thank you for being silly at all the wrong moments.

Thank you for running the way you do.

Thank you for being my rock through our parenting journey.

Thank you for always doing the school runs since we had P3.

Thank you for being my bestest friend and being the person I can always rely on.

Thank you for putting up with my strange OCD habits when it comes to our bed covers.

Thank you for planning spontaneous trips for the girls.

Thank you entirely for being you. Don’t ever change, although it would be nice if you could pick your pants up every now and then, or know where you left your belt every morning. We’ve been through so much together, family feuds and the backlashes of that but we are the ones still standing. Somehow. Together.

I love you more than anything. You are my world.

Love your Wife xx
