Pancakes And Lent

As I’ve mentioned before – I’m a Christian. And I’m sure you all know that yesterday was pancake day. It was also P2s due date.

Shrove Tuesday – the day before Lent.
Pancakes are associated with the day preceding Lent because they were a way to use up rich foods such as eggs, milk, and sugar, before the fasting season of the 40 days of Lent. The liturgical fasting emphasized eating plainer food and refraining from food that would give pleasure: In many cultures, this means no meat, dairy, or eggs.

For the past few years I’ve given up Facebook. Purely because I am a Facebook addict. I used to post as if it was Twitter… Since giving it up each year my posts surprisingly have decreased. (Even if my Facebook friends don’t agree)

This year I’m stuck with what I want to give up. I don’t want to give up Facebook again – especially with a new baby it’s a way of keeping the whole family up to date quickly and simply.

I don’t do anything else that would be meaningful enough to give up… So I guess this year I won’t be participating properly in Lent 🙁 Does this make me a bad Christian?

I feel like such a bad Christian. I cannot remember the last time I attended church. I certainly didn’t go for the duration of my pregnancy so it’s been at least 9months!!!! I have prayed every single day; alone and with P1.

To all my Christian friends – I’ll be back as soon as I’m recovered from the birth of P2.
