Taking My Four Year Old To Clubs

When P2 was around two years old I began to have worries about her confidence. She was extremely attached to Hubby and me when we ventured out and would rarely leave our sides. She took about three months to stop crying every morning nursery drop off.

But then something changed her. It was like a switch was flipped and P2 went from being quite timid to this very confident girl. During her first year at nursery she was able to perform as a leading part (no words) and it had been noted that she was very loud and confident with singing.

Her confidence has kept on growing as she’s got older. Her most recent Christmas performance at nursery saw her take another leading role with words and she did brilliantly. Even when her audience giggled because she was cute. She just stood there proud and full of beans.

So we’ve been looking into ways to nurture the skill that she seems to possess. We want her to grow in herself but also to focus it a little more because she currently only has one volume and that is loud. Now that she is four years old we have said she can have two little groups. So far we’ve found one that is a high potential but we are still a little unsure as we were unable to actually see her during her trial. It’s a performing arts school that runs ok a Saturday morning.

I love the idea of her doing clubs that offer skills rather than just ones that are fun. Of course she’s got to love what she does and it’s really important that she leads the way in choosing the groups she joins. She seemed to like the performing arts school but didn’t really tell us about it. She says she wants to go again but not all the time. So we’ve popped it on our potential list.

We also arranged a horse riding experience for her birthday which is something that she has been asking for since she was about two years old. We also have swimming and gymnastics on our need to try list. I am so excited for the next year and hopefully finding P2 a hobby that she can grow into. Turning four is going to be so much fun!
