The Nitty Gritty

Now that I’ve had a little fiddle with settings and made my way around WordPress I think I’m ready to begin to let you all know a little more about me and my background.

I was born in 1992 – yes I’m only 20 years old. My family is quite confusing – I have a Mum; My mum is my best friend. I am so lucky to have the relationship I do with her. I have a biological Dad; I have only met my dad a few times. There was a horrific incident regarding him when I was just a newborn. I’ve always craved a relationship with him but we tend to stick to just texts/Facebook. I have a step-dad; This man has only known me for a short amount of my life. But he has taken me on as his own and I can only thank him for putting up with me this long πŸ™‚ I have the most amazing Grandparents; If I am ever stuck with something I have always been able to rely on them. They are my rock and I am so grateful for every wise word and lecture they have given me as I’ve grown up. I have a half brother; This is from my mum’s side – her previous partner who I used to call “Dad” until they broke up. He’s my brother… I think that says it all really haha! I have a step sister; This girl is the most hilarious person I know. Complete and utter nutter but I love her. We’ve had our moments in the past but I’m pleased to say that it is well and truly behind us now.

I am a Mum. At 15 years old I found out I was pregnant. At the time I thought I was in a happy and stable relationship. Being in the last year at school and pregnant was hard. But I proved everyone wrong – I stayed in school and completed my GCSEs. My daughter (who in the blog I will call P1 “princess 1”) was born 7 weeks early. She spent 27days in hospital. At 5 weeks old she had to have an operation for Pyloric Stenosis which was a very scary time for us. My relationship with her father became abusive and therefore broke down quite rapidly. She now does not see him – and maybe a lot of people will judge me on that but I tried my hardest for them to continue having a relationship but he just wasn’t interested. My daughter still suffers from her prematurity; she has very flexible leg joints and attends regular physiotherapy sessions.

I have an amazing partner (in this blog will be known as OH “Other Half”). We haven’t been together very long but I am a true believer of when you know, you know. And I certainly know that this man is my Mr Right. He proposed to me on my birthday 2012 – kneeling down at the end of a trail of rose petals with my beautiful P1 smiling next to him. My daughter calls him “Daddy” and that’s exactly what he is. He has taken her on as his own and she looks up to him and respects him. I have the most perfect little family anyone could wish for.

Well… It’s not quite complete. I am currently 34 weeks pregnant with another little princess (at least that’s what the scans say). My pregnancy has been far from straight forward. Severe morning sickness, suspected ectopic pregnancy, several hospital visits including a week stay, finding out I have Strep B, being told I’ll have another early arrival. This week I’ve been suffering from lack of sleep due to extremely itchy skin and an ever growing bump. P2 hasn’t made the early appearance we expected… yet!

As for my work; I work for an Aircraft Spares company. I’ve worked there for the past three years (just over). I was very lucky to land this job; it’s very well paid with fantastic perks. I am their Shipping Manager. It can be rather stressful in all honesty but I’m currently on maternity leave so am enjoying some freedom and the opportunity to spend some quality time with my daughter before the second arrives.

I am a Christian. I don’t attend church regularly – I used to, and I feel rather guilty that I don’t anymore. It’s finding the time and energy that is the issue these days. I plan to start attending Sunday service once the baby has arrived. But until then I continue to pray daily.

So there you go… a little about me. I’m not sure if I’ve missed anything but feel free to comment or ask me any questions.

  3. We have SO much in common!! I got pregnant at 19, so not that young but stil young-ish I guess but I hate the term young parent. He didnt want to know, so he’s not in our life. Daddy is the man who came into my life a few years ago, we now have boy no2. I had a horrendous second pregnancy where I suffered from HG and at the beginning we had a scare where we thoughtwe had lost him. I pretty much spent most of that pregnancy in and out of hospital. I’m a Christian too but have not visited church since my first was born, my church kinda turned their back on me when I came back from travelling with a unmarried bump. I do keep saying I will go visit a new church now that I’ve moved towns one Sunday but that’s what I’ve been saying for a while now. Look forward to reading more & congratulations on no2! I love being a mum of 2! πŸ™‚ x

    • I find it so hard to find the time to fit Church into my weekends. I guess it’s about juggling life – and that is very hard! I like being a young mum… I hate the judging that gets associated with it though. Thank you for reading my blog πŸ™‚
