Family Day Out To Godstone Farm & Giveaway

Firstly, if you are here for the giveaway hello and I’ve popped it right at the beginning to make it easy for you. However, I’d love to have you stay for a while and read all about our family day out to Godstone Farm.

<c/center>A few weeks ago we had the wonderful opportunity to head to Godstone Farm & Playbarn for a day out. We actually took the chance to invite my mother-in-law, her partner, my brother-in-law and auntie-in-law along for the day out too. It’s not far from where we live so it was a perfect place for a little family adventure.

For anybody who has never been to Godstone Farm, it is set in the beautiful Surrey hills along country lanes but not too far from the M25 making it a really easy place to get to with your family. There’s plenty of parking too. A family of four entrance costs £37.60 however you can save £4 by booking online. It’s brilliant value for money.

Right at the entrance you can turn right and head up towards the huge outdoor play area (see more of that later in the post) or you can head down towards the main farm area. The farm isn’t too big and although it has quite a few inclines, it’s really pushchair friendly. After a quick go on the Under 6s Ride On Area we headed for some animals!

All of the animals are in enclosures that can be viewed and accessed easily. There’s a great range of pets, lots of chickens and birds too. Including the odd free range duck. The girls spent a long time peeking over the enclosures and trying to stroke some guinea-pigs who honestly have the best home I’ve ever seen!

The girls were really desperate to have a play in the indoor playbarn. It’s a really big soft play with toilet facilities and a small refreshments cafe too. The soft play itself is really child friendly, to the point that even I struggle to manoeuvre around the play area. We had a sort tea break whilst the kids played and then headed to the dino trail.

I love the dino trail. It’s part of the park which is really peaceful actually. There’s the usual statues of dinosaurs, fossil digging and facts to explore. P3 adores dinosaurs so she was in her element. There’s also a chance to walk around the duck pond, sometimes this area is shut off due to the water levels but we were lucky enough for it to be open on this day. It’s beautiful.

The girls then wanted to try out the brand new area at Godstone. Previously in the Slide Barn was just that, outdoor wooden play equipment just like a park only indoors. In our previous visits to Godstone the girls were not really impressed however it has very recently been converted into an amazing space for imagination. Wiglet’s Play Village is a place for role play. There’s a veterinary area, a cafe, construction and so much more! The girls loved it. I actually came back after this specific trip on a nursery trip for P3 and this was all she wanted to do.

Godstone Farm put on several activities during the day. One that we had set our hearts on seeing was the pig race. There’s something really cute and entertaining about that. We had just about enough time to pop to the restaurant for some food. The weather was bright, not quite hot but warm enough, so we sat outside whilst the kids played in the giant sandpit. It’s always great to have entertainment near a food place.

The pig race is situated towards the top barn and outdoor play areas. You get to walk past all the pigs and chickens too. Like I said Godstone have various events on and we had actually planned our visit for the last day of their Fairies and Mythical creatures event over the half term. So P2 specifically was thrilled to find giant straw bale unicorn heads to pose beside and a unicorn shetland pony in the top barn too.

The outdoor play area, situated high above Godstone Farm, is a brilliant place for children to explore. It’s a little nerve racking for us as parents of three children as they all go in different directions and the play area is huge! But on this trip we managed to have one child to one adult allowing us all to enjoy some fun play time with the kids. P3 loved the giant sandpits, P2 pushed her limits on swings and climbing apparatus and P1 loved the toboggan slides.

Godstone Farm offer tractor rides at an extra fee. I don’t think you should pay for the tractor rides and believe it should be included in the price of the entrance but it wasn’t too expensive. It is also done on timed slots so if you think you might want a tractor ride it’s best to book when you first arrive so you can plan your day. It’s a short ride but the girls loved it!

Our next stop of the day was to venture in to the animal barn. This is a great opportunity to get really close to the pets. We queued to cuddle a rabbit and there are shallow enclosures for you to stroke some of the other rabbits and guinea-pigs too. P3 adored seeing the baby chicks as well.

The animal barn is attached to the big barn too. This is where the llamas and goats are. We got to see some mischievous baby goats playing. All the animals are well looked after which is always good to know.

Everyone had started to get a little tired and in need of a snack. So we popped back inside the play barn for a break (the break being for us adults mainly). It was very nearly closing time actually so things had quietened down on the farm.
